Merle taught painting and printmaking to both children and adults for over half a century. Her time spent teaching students to pursue their creative work without the use of harmful chemicals placed her at the forefront of the printmaking world. Merle was beloved by her students and will be missed by all. Join us in celebrating some of her works.
Merle Spandorfer's paintings, prints and artists books are in the permanent collections of over 100 museums and corporations including The Museum of Modern Art, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Whitney Museum of American Art, The Philadelphia Museum of Art, The Israel Museum, The Baltimore Museum and The Library of Congress. She has exhibited in 30 one-person shows and more then 200 group exhibitions in museums, universities and galleries in Europe, Asia and The United States.
